The majority of industrial rectified DC power sources are generated through rectifier equipment composed of rectifier transformers and rectifiers, connected to the AC power grid. The electrochemical industry is where rectifier transformers find their most extensive application. They are employed in the electrolysis of colored metal compounds to extract aluminum, magnesium, copper, and other metals, the electrolysis of salt to produce chlorine and alkali, and the electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen and oxygen.
